Food Facts

At Meals By Mel, we’re committed to sourcing responsibly while keeping our meals both high-quality and accessible. Here’s how we approach our ingredients: - Red meats (like ground beef, tri-tip, and bison) are antibiotic-free and contain no added hormones. - Poultry is always antibiotic-free, with no animal by-products or preservatives. - Seafood selections include wild-caught shrimp and cod, and open-ocean farm-raised salmon. - Eggs, including our liquid whole eggs and egg whites, are cage-free and certified humane. Our sourcing choices reflect our mission: to deliver real food you can trust — without compromise.
We prioritize quality above all — and that includes using organic ingredients whenever possible. While organic is one of the standards we value, it’s just one part of how we evaluate our ingredients. At Meals By Mel, we aim to source the highest quality food from suppliers as close to home as possible, focusing on minimally processed ingredients that retain their full nutritional value. Even if some of our partners aren’t certified organic, they practice mindful, sustainable, and responsible methods that align with our values. To ensure consistency and quality, we prepare nearly everything in-house — from sauces to sides — so you can trust every bite of every dish.
Want to know exactly what’s in your meal? We make it easy. From our menu, simply click on any dish to view its full macronutrient and micronutrient breakdown, along with total calories, ingredients, and heating instructions. You’ll also find complete nutritional details printed on the label of every Meals By Mel item — so you always know what you’re eating and how to heat it up.
All Meals By Mel dishes are made fresh — never frozen — and contain no preservatives. Our meals have a shelf life of 3–9 days from the date you receive them, depending on the ingredients. For example, seafood-based meals typically have a shorter shelf life. You’ll find a clear “Consume By” date on every container, so you always know when to enjoy it. If you decide to freeze a meal, we recommend doing so as close to the delivery date as possible and before the listed consume-by date. When you're ready to eat it, move it to the fridge the day before to allow it to thaw fully. Please note: Heating instructions on the label are for fresh meals. If you're reheating from frozen, be sure the internal temperature reaches 165°F before consuming.
Most Meals By Mel dishes are designed as single servings. For more details, you can view the serving size, calories, macronutrients, ingredients, and more by clicking on any item on our online menu. Everything you need to know is right at your fingertips.
Because our meals are prepared in large batches, we’re unable to modify individual recipes. However, you can filter our menu by allergens to easily find meals that meet your dietary needs and preferences. We aim to offer a wide variety of options so there’s always something for everyone.
We refresh our menu every 3–4 weeks to keep things exciting and seasonal. From time to time, this means certain meals will be removed from the lineup. But don’t worry — we’ll always give you a heads-up before any items are retired from your subscription, so you have time to make changes. You can update your weekly meal selections anytime through our website or app, as long as it’s before your lock date. This way, you’re always in control of what’s heading to your door.
Low Carb Meals By Mel’s low-carb options are designed to provide around 75–115 grams of carbs per day, or 30–40 grams per meal, depending on your calorie needs. These meals focus on lean proteins, vegetables, and healthy fats to help support stable energy and blood sugar levels while keeping carbs in check. High Protein Our high-protein meals are crafted to deliver 35–40% of total calories from protein, which typically equals 30–45 grams of protein per meal, and 13–23 grams per snack — depending on your daily intake. Perfect for fueling muscle recovery, curbing cravings, and staying full longer.
